About Me

James Lucas BSc MBTPA

• Full member of the Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA)

I initially discovered Bowen back in 2003 after injuring my back whilst training in Martial Arts. I was suffering from lumber pain with sciatica pain down one leg. Initially I tried Physiotherapy which provided some relief, but it wasn’t long lasting. Somebody was to recommend Bowen Therapy and after three treatments I was amazed to find that the pain had gone and to date has not returned. Around the same time I was looking for a change in career. After spending the previous 12 years sitting in front of a computer, I decided it was time for a change. I qualified in 2004 with the ECBS (European College of Bowen Studies) and then in 2008 certified in NST (Neurostructural Integration Technique). Both of which are the basis for the treatment I provide. Although my clinic is based in Huddersfield, clients come to see me from as far as Leeds and Manchester.

My other passion is the Chinese Internal martial Art of Tai Chi, which I teach in classes around Huddersfield. I find the Bowen and Tai Chi complement each other as both aims to structurally balance the body in a natural way.

Bowen Therapy Shoulder pain

I take my professional development seriously and I am constantly undertaking training to extend and update my skills. Recently I qualified in the Emmett Technique. Another wonderful technique which involves the application of light pressure at particular points and in sequences that enables the gentle physical release of muscle groups.
